Tastes as expensive as it looks
As soon as you step into Mekong you know this place us expensive. From the tastefully overdone interiors to the hosts who had the sophistication that cones with being well paid.
I decided to go for a Vietnamese Pho and my friend ordered the Tom Kha. Both soups were light, refreshing and elegantly spiced. After that we followed it up with Vietnamese rice cooked in a lotus leaf accompanied with chicken chilli. This was beautiful, the clash between the slight differences of Thai and Vietnamese cuisine brought out a whole melody of flavors. You could taste the individual ingredients and how fresh they were and you could see it all working together.
The portions are pretty big so don't order a dish per person. We didn't have enough room left for dessert and our host seemed genuinely pained that we didn't try that part of his menu.
The environment is peaceful and the tables are far enough away for people to have their privacy. Great for a peaceful Sunday/Saturday afternoon lunch. Plan 2 hours and roughly 2500 per person if you aren't going to drink.
I had gone there to celebrate my anniversary and had booked the table and told them about the occasion. On entering the place was quite empty and we were given the window seats overlooking the city my wife was very excited with the view. Now for the food we ordered sweet corner soup which was excellent. Next for starters we ordered thai vegetable spring rolls which were very crispy and cooked just perfectly. Next for dinner we had thai curry with jasmine rice as recommended. The rice was good but the curry was excellent. To end we were given a cake for the occasion all in all a wonderful experience
